We had some REALLY cute visitors come for the weekend.  Can you believe how sweet Emma is?  Oh I just love her to pieces, seriously adorable.

And Lily, she so much fun and full of personality!  Here she’s taking pictures with this (retired) cell phone, what a doll!

They brought us a present too, their cardboard coloring play house!  It was crowding their apartment and my girls were all too happy to let it stay at our house.

Speaking of pictures, my girls have taken to using my camera (with permission).  Sure, it’s risky letting them hold something so heavy and expensive that I can’t afford to replace… man it makes it seem worse when I type it out, but I also love them to try new things!  And let’s be honest, am I going to have any pictures of me during this phase of life any other way? :)  Here’s some of their photography from May… I’ll leave out the photos of dressers and such.

I love having a guest room/bathroom so people can come stay!  It’s awesome.

Thanks for coming to visit Matt and Cami!

I pain-stakingly choose a paint color for our entry.  It took me months to choose and then I waited for the paint to go on sale, got a pint sample and painted swatches on every wall, including a large 3 foot by 5 foot section on a wall before buying the 2 gallons of paint we needed.  I choose Sherwin Williams (now you know why I waited for it go go on sale) Crushed Ice.  It’s a light gray… or so I thought…

NOPE!!!!  It turned out blue in my entry way.  WEIRD that the swatches I painted looked gray, but after we painted all of those 20 foot walls, we stepped back and said… “aaaaaa, it’s blue.”  It looked, without question, to be a true gray everywhere else except on our walls!  We didn’t like it and the tape and drop cloths were not removed, we had to fix it.  I was so sad!  And scared to pick another paint color, I felt like I had done everything right!!  I seriously have paint selection anxiety.  Does anyone have a secret to picking good paint colors?  I’d love to hear.

Sophie helped me document the painting process though.  These pictures make me kind of angry like the one of Dan installing the dishwasher (that flooded), if only we knew what was going to happen… Anyway I think the bum shot is especially good at showing a child’s perspective. :)

And here’s some pictures of my girls playing Just Dance Kids! on the Wii.  They’re really cute if I do say so myself!

They’re not only cute, they’re totally normal!!  well, sort of. Sophie’s picture is from “crazy day” she wore mismatched and backwards clothes, and crazy hair, obviously.  She was the most crazily dressed kid in her class that I saw, I love that she’s so confident.  You rock Sophie!  Don’t ever change.

Making silly faces at dinner… or was it breakfast???  They are wearing pajamas… weird.  Anyway, so Sophie has a pillow behind her back and an ace bandage around her torso because she was lying on the couch complaining her back hurt too much to eat, so I wrapped her up and carried her to the table.  Apparently it didn’t hurt too much to put a cheerleader dress up on, just sayin’.   Tessa is really good at silly faces, she makes us all laugh, hard.

Yep, they’re normal!  You’re just going to have to trust me on this. ;)  Sure do love them, I am totally livin’ the life!  Aren’t I?  Just so lucky to get to hang out with these characters everyday.

Gray is a very tricky color to pick, because all grays have an undertone (purple, blue, green, etc.). You can see a picture online and think it's the perfect gray, and then put it on YOUR walls and it looks purple. I painted a medium gray when we first moved in and everyone always said, "I love your blue wall", and then walk into the next room and said, "I love that gray wall". It was the SAME color! It's all about lighting. My second attempt at picking my gray was to get about 8 different grays (from multiple brands - SW, Behr, Benjamin Moore, etc.- I just got the name I liked and then got Home Depot to color match with the name - don't take them the samples to color match make them do it by the brand and name). I just got their paint sample size (2 bucks each - rather spend 20 bucks on samples and get the right color then spend 50 bucks on one wrong color) of all 8 colors and then painted a sample next to a window and then in the darkest corner. I looked at them at different times of day. I instantly knew which 2 I liked best. A lot of the "true grays" I thought I liked turned out to be taupey or blue in color. The one I thought looked too light in the store was the one I ended up choosing. I love my gray walls. They really look gray this time. Good luck, and thanks for sharing your progress with us. I love to see how people make their homes unique. Your kids are so cute, BTW. Adam was looking at your blog the other night and was commenting on how cute your little guy is. I agree.

AHAHAH! I had the EXACT same problem with my grey walls. I got Benjamin Moore's Stonington Grey. I saw a picture of it online and it looked perfect, plus the sample looked very neutral too. I painted all of our bedrooms, plus the living room, plus the hallway... and people still walk into my house and say "I love the blue walls!" AGHH! oh well... Maybe someday I'll gather the energy to repaint?
